Game of the week – Battle Cry. Now available in a special expanded 150th Civil War Anniversary Edition, Battle Cry is a classic war game designed by Richard Borg, and was the first game to introduce the card-driven battle systems used in his later hit games Memoir ’44, Battlelore and Command & Colours. The new version of the game has 30 scenarios to play through to recreate famous events from the US Civil War. To find out if this might be a game for you, check out Marco Arnaudo’s (from 2D6.org) video review.
Dice Tower’s Top 100 of 2012 – its that time of year again! Tom Vasel has started his 8th annual top 100 boardgames overview. Check out the introduction to his 2012 rundown here. Like us I’m sure loads of you will be watching the updates over the next few weeks, and trying to guess what Tom’s number 1 game will be this year.

Indie Roleplaying - we have another shipment of US indie RPG books coming in shortly. As well as restocks of favourites such as Fiasco, Dread, Microscope, Maid, Polaris, and Don’t Rest Your Head, look out for new books including Triune, Night’s Black Agents, School Daze, Remnant, Engine Heart, Shab-al-Hiri Roach, Lords of Olympus, Over the Edge, Cold City and contender for best book title of the year, Magical Land of Yeld: Mermaid Hunters. For all of our roleplayers, our new RPG Facebook group is starting to take shape, and hopefully some gaming sessions will be lined up soon.
.. and the Demise of the Games Master – GeekNative have posted an interesting article by Joe Prince, commenting on the rise of GM-less RPGs, and what this means for the future of roleplaying. While the success of systems such as Fiasco have provided new opportunities for time-poor roleplayers, and been pushing innovation in story-telling, we have a sneaking suspicion that the ‘traditional’ GM will be around for a while longer yet.
